Women
Since his artistic beginnings, women have played a relevant role in the work of Seoane, both visual art and literature. From an uplifting perspective, his women usually appear doing work in the fields or in environments linked to culture Galician rural culture. At other times, as in this work, Seoane’s women become resounding icons that appear in scenes without doing any action, but as structural means in order to distribute shapes, lines and colors through the pictorial surface that the act of painting is based on, according to the painter himself. The composition of this work, done four years before returning to Galicia, after twenty-seven of exile in Buenos Aires, reaffirms the schematic formula of his figures that were already very refined since the mid-1950s.
